Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi benefit plans give you and your covered employees access to the benefits, tools and information they need to be healthy and stay healthy.
Benefit Choice allows your small business to offer your employees a choice of several benefit plans while managing your investment. With Benefit Choice, you pay a defined amount of your employees' monthly premiums, and your employees select the benefit design that best fits their coverage needs from up to three plan options that you choose. Health savings account plans are also available with Benefit Choice.
With a variety of plan options for calendar-year deductible, office visit co-pay, prescription drug co-pay and co-insurance percentage options, Benefit Choice allows you to give your employees a choice when it comes to selecting the coverage that best meets their needs.
Among the nine Benefit Choice plan options are three Blue Health Savings (high-deductible health) plans that feature a Health Savings Account (HSA). These options offer affordable coverage for your employees that gives them the ability to set aside tax-deductible HSA contributions and earn tax-free interest from investments, all while having the security of using the funds tax free when necessary for qualified medical expenses.
With all of our Benefit Choice options, you and your covered employees will have access to our comprehensive network of the highest-quality healthcare providers in Mississippi and beyond. Through our BlueCard program, your employees have access to Network Providers wherever they live. Network Providers can also help your employees be healthy!
Our benefit designs encourage your employees to establish a relationship with their Network Provider who will ensure the medical necessity of the inpatient setting and outpatient services. Your employees will not have to worry about pre-certifying medical services and Network Providers accept the Blue Cross and Blue Shield allowable for covered services in full. This means savings for you and your employees.
NOTE: Prior Authorization must be obtained by a Network Provider for non-emergent elective services provided outside the State of Mississippi unless the member resides out-of-state.Prescription Drug Benefits

With an HSA, employees can contribute tax-deductible dollars toward future medical expenses including deductibles, co-payments, co-insurance and other qualified healthcare expenses, all while enjoying more affordable monthly premiums.
Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi has partnered with Wells Fargo to offer your employees HSA services. Advantages of a Wells Fargo Health Savings Account include:
• Contributions made to HSAs are tax-deductible or pre-tax when made through payroll deductions. Money withdrawn from HSAs to pay for qualified medical expenses is not subject to income tax – so individuals get income tax savings, and an employer group can benefit from a reduction in payroll tax. Additionally, interest and investment earnings on HSA funds are tax-free.
• Individuals can use Wells Fargo Visa® HSA debit cards to pay for eligible medical expenses, and the Wells Fargo Health Account ManagerSM portal makes it fast and easy to manage Wells Fargo HSAs anytime.
• Saving for future medical expenses is also important. With a Wells Fargo HSA, participating members can choose to invest in a wide array of mutual funds to meet their saving goals. Plus, they can use their HSAs to complement their 401(k) or IRA retirement savings.

Our Healthy You! wellness benefit encourages your employees to establish a relationship with their Network Primary Care Provider to understand their health risks. Healthy You! provides an annual visit with a Mississippi Healthy You! Network Provider at no out-of-pocket cost. The covered screenings and immunizations are age and gender-specific and help your employees "know their numbers" for blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and weight. Once employees know their health risks, they can work with their Network Provider to manage their risks through lifestyle changes and medication therapy, when necessary, with an emphasis on generic medications.
When health risks are identified early, illnesses can be managed and often prevented. This means lower healthcare costs for you and your employees.
Note: Employees who live outside of Mississippi will choose a Healthy You! Network Provider in their state of residence.
With a Blue Primary Care Home, your employees have the opportunity to establish or maintain a relationship with their Blue Primary Care Network Provider. A Blue Primary Care Home serves as a member’s "home" for wellness and coordination of their care needs along their Blue Wellness Journey.

To support your employees in managing their health, our Health and Wellness Team will work with the treating Network Provider to ensure the necessary care is provided in the most clinically-appropriate, cost-effective setting, to include our Centers of Excellence. Based on a person's health status, he or she may also qualify for one of our Blue Health Management enhanced health management programs such as Color Me Healthy!
Our group benefit plans are also designed to support you and your employees in establishing or making healthy lifestyle changes, such as tobacco cessation or beginning an exercise program. With our electronic billing, payment and enrollment maintenance system at your fingertips through our secure web portal, myBlue Group, our e-business model is redefining customer service. You can view your bill, make changes to your enrollment and pay your bill - all electronically - and it doesn't get any easier than that!
From our claims service to our call center, service excellence is at the heart of everything we do. Network Providers will submit your employees' claims to us electronically and we will process the majority of their claims within two days.
myBlue for Members
Our secure online myBlue member portal makes it easier than ever to access benefit information 24 hours a day, seven days a week. With myBlue, your covered employees can view claims as they are filed, search for cost-effective prescription drugs and more. Your employees will also begin their customized Journey to Wellness by completing the Blue Wellness profile via myBlue, which gives us a snapshot of their lifestyle and wellness status.
Your covered employees can stay connected on-the-go with our myBlue mobile app that includes a virtual ID card and the same great features as our myBlue web portal. The myBlue app is available for download today at no cost from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
